Importance of technical education discussed

The State Council's Education and Research Committee at its meeting today, chaired by Hon.Dr. Abdullah bin Mubarak Al Shanfari, the Head of the Committee hosted H.E Dr Muna bint Salim al Jardaniya, Undersecretary for Technological and Vocational Training from the Ministry of Manpower.
The hosting relates to the Committees study titled “The role of education in supporting the knowledge-based economy”. The Committee discussed with H.E Dr Muna bint Salim al Jardaniya, the role of technical education in knowledge creation, enhancement of the capabilities of national cadres and employment of their skills. The discussion also dealt with the role of professional development in achieving the advancement of knowledge economy, how to activate its dimensions, upgrading skills, challenges facing it. The meeting also discussed the extent of employing technology in the process of knowledge production in technical education in the Sultanate, partnership with the private sector education, and the legislations necessary to activate the role of education in providing a knowledge-based economy.
