Broad opportunities for cooperation underlined between Oman – Pakistan

The Pakistani delegation representing the Oman-Pakistan Friendship committee from the Senate of Pakistan, led by Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi completed the official visit to the Sultanate made in response to an invite extended by the State Council.
The visit from 17 to 22 March included meetings with several high-ranking officials and business entities and visit to prominent landmarks.
The State Council Chairman, H.E. Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al-Manthri  praised the role of the Friendship committee between the State Council and the Senate of Pakistan in exchanging experiences in the field of parliamentary work, when he received the Pakistani delegation.
The delegation also held met Khalid bin Hilal Al Mawali, Majlis A’Shura Chairman.
The Parliamentary Friendship Committee between the State Council and the Senate of Pakistan also held formal session of talks. Hon.Eng.Majid bin Said Al Rawahi, Head of the Friendship Committee praised the Omani-Pakistani relations of continuous development and stressed the importance of activating the agreements aimed at developing bilateral relations, especially in trade and economic fields. Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi, Head of the Pakistani side, pointed out to the promising opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation between the Sultanate and Pakistan.


H.E.Yahya bin Said al Jabri, Board Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (SEZAD), during his meeting with the  delegation expressed the Sultanate’s keenness to develop economic and trade relations between the two countries, especially in economic and industrial zones.
Meanwhile, H.E. Qais bin Mohammed al-Yousef, Chairman of   Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) during the meeting with Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi, stressed the importance of developing cooperation in the economic, commercial and investment arenas, besides the need to strengthen relations between the private sectors of both the countries. For his part, Senator Mir Kabir Ahmed Shahi highlighted Pakistan’s investment potential, especially in the field of industry and mining.
The Minister of Transport and Communications, H.E.Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, noted the close relations and areas of cooperation between the Sultanate and Pakistan.
The meeting between H.E.Dr Mohammed bin Awadh Al Hassan, Acting Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and the Pakistani delegation focused on various aspects of cooperation and included exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
During the visit to the Industrial Innovation Center in the Rusail industrial area, the delegation was received by Suleiman bin Issa Al-Sulaimi, Director General of Administrative and Financial affairs at the center.
The Pakistani delegation also visited the National Museum and the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM).
Hon.Eng.Majid bin Said Al Rawahi, Head of the Friendship Committee, Hon.Mahfoodh Hamood Mohamed Al-Wahaibi, Committee member and H.E. Ali Jawed, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Sultanate  were present at the airport to see off the Pakistani delegation.
