Doha meet discusses Innovation in Parliaments

The State Council delegation concluded on Wednesday its participation in the work of the 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and its accompanying meetings, held in Doha.
 
HE.Dr. Khalid bin Salem Al Saidi, Secretary-General of the State Council, participated in the joint session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Assembly of Secretaries-General of national parliaments on "Innovation in parliaments- Prepare for the future."
The session addressed the challenges faced by parliaments and the required innovative solutions, the benefits of such solutions for parliaments, parliamentarians and citizens, and a review of some examples of successful innovations in parliaments.
 In addition, it discussed how parliaments are ready for the future as innovative institutions and the role of digital technology.  
Dr.Khalid also participated in the meeting of the Assembly of Secretaries-General of national parliaments, during which the topic of enacting laws and how to develop better legislation was discussed.
It was emphasized at the meeting that legislations for parliaments involve a high degree of responsibility and hence necessitates clear and transparent laws, supported by previous and subsequent studies to assess their impact.
The meeting also discussed the draft agenda for the next meeting of the Assembly of Secretaries-General of national parliaments, which is scheduled to be held in Belgrade on October 2019.
