Law students of SQU visit State Council

The Council receives students from the College of Law at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
State Council places high priority on disseminating accurate information about governance in Oman. To facilitate this, it has in place a student awareness-program, which allows academic institutions to co-ordinate, and organize visits to State Council. Today, the Council welcomed students from the College of Law at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). Sultan Al Farsi, Section Head of Reports and working papers of the General Secretariat for meetings and committees through his presentation delivered a detailed explanation of the functions and powers of the Council, the tasks and responsibilities entrusted to it as well as spoke about the organizational structure of the Council and its major organs. He also defined the profile of the Oman Council, its role and significance in governance. The lecture touched on the special provisions of the Basic Statute, which advocates the membership number, the mechanism for their appointment, terms of membership, and distinguished between the membership and role of the Majlis Ash’shura, and the State Council. Sultan pointed to the aspects of compatibility and integration between the two councils, with an emphasis on the joint role of the Council of Oman in the political and economic decision-making, which promotes comprehensive development of the Sultanate. The students received an opportunity to view the Council of Oman building, its latest high tech facilities which facilitate parliamentary work and contribute to activating the communication. The visit concluded after the queries raised by the students were answered.
