Students of Arab Open University visit State Council

Today, the Council welcomed students from the Arab Open University.
State Council places high priority on disseminating accurate information about governance in Oman. To facilitate this, it has in place an awareness-program for institutions to co-ordinate and organise visits. Today, the Council received students from the Arab Open University. The guided tour by Hanan Saif Al Yazidi, Head of Meetings Management Section, and Department of Economic Committee Affairs gave an insider’s view to the visitors and know about the Council and its relevance, and learn about the impact it makes across the Sultanate. Hanan through her presentation displayed the role and strengths of Council and a diverse range of topics, including rules and laws relating to governance. She referred to the three authorities of the state, the provisions of the State Council according to the statutes, which indicates the number of members of the Council, the mechanism of appointment, the conditions of membership in the State Council. She highlighted the differences between the State Council and the Shura Council with regard to competencies, members, and the extent of power, in addition to the stages and duration of the passing of the draft law. The students also learned about the organizational structure of the council, its activities and achievements.
