State Council receives college students

The State Council received on Tuesday students of Majan University College and students from the Law faculty of A’Sharqiyah University (ASU), to learn about its role in national work, its powers, competences and mechanism of work.
The students were greeted by Amjad bin Yahya al-Busaidi, Director of Public Relations Department at the Assistant Secretariat for Media Affairs and Public Relation.
The students received an opportunity to attend a part of the sixth ordinary sitting of the first annual session of the seventh term in which the Council discussed the “Draft Law for combatting hidden Trade".
Later on, they learned about the council's functions and terms of reference through a presentation delivered by Sultan Al Farsi, Director of the Legal Committee Affairs Department of the General Secretariat, assisting in the affairs of sessions and committees in the Council.
He addressed the profile of the Council of Oman, its role in national work, provisions of the State Council as stipulated in the Basic Statute of the State and the Councils organizational structure and highlighted its activities.
The visit programme included watching a documentary about the Council and the visit concluded after a tour of the Council.
