State Council Chairman and Japanese physicist discuss Oman-Japan cooperation

H.E.Dr.Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al-Manthri, Chairman of the State Council, today received Dr Amano, Japan's Nobel Prize winner in Physics and Director, Akasaki Research Center, Nagoya University, as well as Seigi Marimoto, former Ambassador of Japan to the Sultanate.
At the beginning of the meeting, the State Council Chairman welcomed the guests and wished them a good stay in the Sultanate. He highlighted the vital role of scientific research in the advancement of nations and the strengthening of human civilization, as one of the most important means of making knowledge that contributes to the development of societies to keep up with the civilized race and ensure a leading position among people.
 
The Chairman of the State Council pointed out that the Sultanate has paid great attention to the scientific research, sensing its great importance in promoting the comprehensive development steps witnessed in all fields. In this regard, he pointed out that in this context, the Council of Scientific Research was established and the National Strategy for Innovation was adopted to encourage scientific research in all fields and to motivate innovators to contribute effectively to the knowledge economy.

For his part, Professor Hiroshi Amano expressed his happiness to visit the Sultanate, and said that Japan looks forward to strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially in the scientific fields, noting the potential of the Sultanate, which qualifies it to carry out research and studies that enhance its development and progress in all fields.

The former Japanese ambassador to the Sultanate also praised the Sultanate's role and its cultural role and efforts to establish peace and stability in the region, pointing out the broad prospects for developing Omani-Japanese relations in all fields.
