HE. Dr. Yahya Bin Mahfoudh al-Manthri, Chairman of the State Council received in his office on Thursday Dr. Hannah Neumann, head of the Delegation for Relations with Arabian Peninsula in the European Parliament, and her delegation, as part of her current official visit to Oman.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the President of the Council welcomed the guest and her accompanying delegation and hoped that the visit to Oman will achieve its desired objectives in terms.
The Council Chairman praised the close relations between the Sultanate and the European Union, and noted the role of the Committee of Relations with the Arabian Peninsula in the European Parliament, to support and develop bilateral cooperation, especially in the parliamentary fields, and pointing out the importance of such visits in opening new avenues of cooperation between the two sides.
The talk reviewed the areas of cooperation between the State Council and the European Parliament, as well as discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
For her part, Dr. Hannah Neumann expressed her happiness and the accompanying delegation to visit the Sultanate, expressing her aspiration for further development and prosperity for relations between the European Union and Oman, which contributes to their common interests.
She praised the Sultanate's prudent foreign policy, its outstanding efforts in protecting regional stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region and supporting world peace, and the significant development that Oman is witnessing at home and abroad, and emphasized its leading role.
Adding further she said, that the Sultanate has played a key role in enshrining the values of tolerance, respect and coexistence, and in establishing the values of dialogue, tolerance and moderation between religions and cultures.
The Vice Chairperson of the State Council and several honorable members and the Secretary-General of the Council attended the meeting.
