The State Council prevailed as the second winner of the 2017 Royal Oman Police (ROP) Traffic Safety Competition in the category of ‘Government organizations’ on Thursday during a prestigious ceremony held under the patronage of HE Nasser bin Khamis al-Jashmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and the Institute of Traffic Safety.
The main Committee of the competition commended the efforts of the State Council made to enhance traffic awareness, noting in particular the activities and events that were included in the Council's participation in this year's Traffic Safety Competition 2017.
It was characterized by diversity and high value, which enabled the Council to win the second position in the competition. The competition has received high participation from government and private institutions to achieve their noble objectives, which indicates their shared vision to reduce traffic accidents, and avoid the disastrous effects that result from them.
H.E Dr.Khalid bin Salim Al Saidi, Secretary General of the State Council in his statement said that the Council’s winning the second place in this year's traffic safety competition, is a remarkable achievement that comes in recognition of the Council’s incessant efforts and initiatives in promoting road safety nationwide. It validates the soundness of its approach and its effectiveness of programs and activities to enhance traffic awareness among the various segments of society.
The award acknowledges our dedication, recognizes the collaboration with ROP, and commends the combined efforts of the government and private sector towards improving traffic and road safety. It reflects the attention paid by the Council to this social issue that is of huge magnitude and its. The award clearly demonstrates its high level of social responsibility and care for the local community in Oman.
The efforts come as a positive response to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s directives that emphasized that traffic safety remains a joint effort between the government, private sector and individuals in order to enhance the Omani society by fostering abilities and knowledge to achieve safe road use and traffic participation
He added that it was the keenness of H.E.Dr.Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al-Manthri, State Council Chairman, that led the Council to participate in the competition and earn the recognition for its proactive efforts to promote traffic safety by winning the 2017 Royal Oman Police (ROP) Traffic Safety Competition.
The Council's participation in this year's traffic safety competition, which was characterized by diversity and versatility, had a great influence on the response of the target audience. The awareness campaign included publications, films, seminars, studies, research, competitions and electronic applications.
The award denotes the success of the comprehensive initiative the Council launched as part of the national and social responsibility. It was meant to educate and raise awareness on the best and safest ways to use roads, protect citizens from traffic accidents and reduce the percentage of casualties and injuries for the benefit of the community.”
The efforts of the contestants who exerted efforts to reducing traffic accidents are notable. The intent was to curtail negative consequences.
