State Council Hosts TRC Officials To Discuss National Strategy For Innovation

The State Council on 5 March hosted officials from the Research Council (TRC) connected with the implementation of the National Strategy for Innovation at the Nahda Hall of Council of Oman.
Present at the event were H E Dr Khalid bin Salem al Saidi, Secretary general of the State Council, Dr Hilal bin Ali al Hinai, Secretary General of TRC, H H Sayyid Dr Fahad bin al Julanda al Said, Assistant Secretary General of the Innovation Development Department of TRC, Dr Sharifa bint Hamoud al Harithiya, Senior Planning and Studies Specialist at TRC and Head of the National Innovation Strategy Project and honorable members from the Council.
H E Dr Saidi said that the Council's hosting of TRC officials to make a presentation on the national strategy for innovation comes within the framework of the council's concern to host those involved in a number of institutions and bodies to highlight their actions and contributions in various fields.
Scientific research has become increasingly important, and its role in the advancement of nations has grown, and their development paths based on scientific methodology, knowledge and innovation, have been strengthened, he said.
The National Strategy for scientific research had been adopted to provide a basis for plans to achieve comprehensive, scientifically based development that meet the needs of the present and responsive to the requirements of the future.
Dr Hinai emphasized the importance of scientific research, noting the scientific research strategy has been prepared using successful international experiences with the aim of creating a system that responds to local requirements, global trends, promoting social cohesion and leading to innovation and scientific excellence.
Dr Sharifa reviewed a number of aspects of the strategy, explaining that its vision is based on the achievement of a national economy based on innovation through an effective national innovation system for sustainable development. The sultanate will be among the top 20 innovation leaders by the year 2040, she said.
Following this, the members of the Council of State discussed various aspects of the strategy, commending the efforts made in its work, and looking forward to the strategy contributing to the establishment of an effective innovation system that would promote sustainable development plans.
