Special Committee hosts specialists to discuss regulating biotech use

The Special Committee discussed on Tuesday, at its fourth meeting the proposal to regulate the application of biotechnology and its products and the protection of genetic data in the Sultanate.
 
The meeting was headed by Hon.Dr.Wafa Salim Ali Al Harrasy, State Council member and held in the presence of the honourable members of the Committee and Secretariat staff.
The committee-hosted specialists from University of Nizwa to gain inputs related to the proposal. The committee discussed with them, the identification of areas and uses of biotechnology in the Sultanate, the protection of genetic data of organisms, the protection of vital applications and their uses and their impact on organisms, and scientific research in the field of biotechnology.
