Regulation of biotech usage and protection of genetic data discussed with SQU specialists

The Special Committee at State Council on Tuesday, at its meeting hosted specialists from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) - Faculty of Agricultural and Marine Sciences to gain inputs for its proposal to regulate the application of biotechnology and its products and the protection of genetic data in the Sultanate.
 
Hon.Dr.Wafa Salim Ali Al Harrasy headed the meeting in the presence of the honourable members of the Committee and Secretariat staff.
The specialists from SQU included Dr.Mohamad Bin Ali Al Abri, Dr.Ali Bin Masaood Al Subhi and Dr Serji Doberstov.
The committee discussed a number of topics related to the study , including : Biotechnological uses, protection of genetic data, regulation of the circulation and protection of genetic materials, regulation of the use of bio-applications and their impact, and scientific research in the field of biotechnology.
