Omani parliamentarians to attend Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament

Four parliamentarians will be joining their counterparts from Arab, Gulf and international organizations at the Summit of Women Speakers, to be held at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi on 12-13 December.
Four parliamentarians will be joining their counterparts from Arab, Gulf and International organizations at the Summit of Women Speakers, to be held at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi on 12-13 December. The delegation comprises of four women members, led by Hon.Dr Suad bint Mohammed Al Lawati, State Council Vice-Chairperson. It includes members Hon.Naashiah Al Kharousi and Hon.Rahma Al Mashrafi from State Council and Hon.Naama Jamil Al Busaidi, member of Majlis Ash’shura . The summit is to be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women's Union, GWU, and Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. The Summit titled ‘United for shaping the future’ is to be hosted by the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates and the Inter Parliamentary Union. The Summit opens a new decade of gatherings of women in the highest parliamentary decision-making positions. It provides opportunities to exchange views and to network with major leaders across different sectors and disciplines. It also offers an exclusive opportunity to shape the parliamentary agenda based on rapidly emerging political, economic, environmental and social changes that affect global security, prosperity and sustainability, and that requires a united global governance response. It will address key questions on the evolving role of parliament, including how parliaments can work with the other branches of government, with the private sector and the wider community. That work often covers a wide variety of domains, from the economic, humanitarian and social to the political, scientific and technological. The Summit will focus on the role that women Speakers can play in uniting parliamentarians globally and focus on political interests to deliver sustainable security in a rapidly changing world for present and future generations.
