Omani Woman -A key partner in enhancing national progress and prosperity

The State Council and Majlis A’Shura today celebrated this year's Omani Women's Day, under the auspices of H.E.Dr.Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al-Manthri, Chairman of the State Council attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al-Maawali, Chairman of Majlis A’Shura, the two Vice Chairmen of the State Council, Secretary Generals of both the State Council and Majlis A’Shura and number of members from both the Councils.
 
The celebration, included the screening of a film documenting the journey of Omani women.
 
Altaf bint Omar Al Marhoon, the Assistant Secretary-General for Information and Research Centre
delivered a speech, in which she confirmed that the celebration of the Omani Women's Day recognizes the high opportunities provided by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said to promote the status and scientific empowerment of Omani women, since the start of the Blessed Renaissance. This has enabled her to reach her present stature and confirms the extent of her contribution to the various areas of progress of the nation and become an examples for others.

Altaf said, “I am confident about the promising future, the bright tomorrow as I am witnessing the ambitious aspirations”. The Omani Women's day is an opportunity to express their gratitude to this generous nation, and is a tribute to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said with the promise to redouble their efforts to serve the dear nation and renew loyalty.
 
Adding further she said, “the achievements of the Omani Women within the last 48 years of the Blessed Renaissance confirms the momentum of their progression characterized by diligence and perseverance which has placed her strategically among her counterparts worldwide. As we celebrate this occasion in the presence of the women members of the Council from various sessions, we have deepest sense of pride for their contributions and dedication.
 
In conclusion, she expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said for the continued attention and care for the Omani women and the care to allot a day to mark her worth.
 
Hon.Lamees Abdullah Al Taie, expressed her pleasure at meeting the former members of the State Council and Majlis A’Shura at this occasion, which is a reflection of the high interest of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. She said His Majesty’s care has ensured that the Omani Woman is today empowered and the Omani Woman’s Day is a day to celebrate their efforts and to honor their endeavors to contribute to strengthening Oman's march towards progress and prosperity.
She added that Omani women had made tremendous progress in all social, economic, and political spheres and has the right to be proud today of their gains and to flaunt their achievements in all fields of work.
The political empowerment of Omani women was at the forefront of good leadership, as the Basic Statue guaranteed Omani women the right to stand for election to Majlis Shura, as well as today is a member of the State Council, and this enables them to strengthen the Council's standing in its role in national action within a state of institutions, with the set authorities laid down by established rules.
In view of what has been achieved by the Omani Consultative process, there has been a remarkable development in improving parliamentary practice, expanding legislative and regulatory powers, thereby enhancing the contribution of the Council of Oman to national work.
She added: “We had the honor of belonging to this distinguished Council in its previous sessions, and we have had the opportunity to contribute to its work, a rich and useful experience that we have learned so much, and we hope that we have contributed to building out nation.”
In conclusion, she expressed her thanks and appreciation to the State Council Chairman, Chairman of Majlis A’Shura, members of the two Councils for making the celebration of the Omani Women’s day possible.
Subsequently, the State Council Chairman gifted the former woman  members of both the Councils mementoes  in recognition of their role in serving community issues.
