Secretary General receives Delegation of Lawyers Association from Czech Republic

H.E.Dr.Khalid Saidi, Secretary General of the State Council on Sunday, received a delegation representing the Lawyers Association from Czech Republic, currently visiting the Sultanate to facilitate learning about Oman’s judicial and legal experience.
 
The Secretary-General welcomed the delegation, underscored the strong relations between the Sultanate and the Czech Republic, and welcomed the efforts of the two friendly countries in developing these relations, which includes several areas of cooperation that serve their common interests.
He briefed the guests about the State Council, its role, functions, reviewed the legislative session, and noted that the draft laws processed by the Council utilized the legal expertise of the honorable members.
He explained that all the laws issued in the state must conform to the articles of the Basic Law of the State and the international laws ratified by the Sultanate.
Regarding the societal laws, Dr.Khalid said that they are measured according to society’s needs, the extent of their impact on economic and social aspects and their incompatibility or the compliance with the customs and traditions of society and the extent to which society accepts these laws.
Dr.Khalid spoke about the many common and unified laws between the GCC countries, noted that these laws and uniform legislations are used to regulate the common affairs of these countries and pointed out that there are also laws issued by the League of Arab States, that are guiding  and non-binding in application to member states.
The delegation commended the pivotal role played by the Sultanate in promoting regional security, peace and stability and underlined the strong relations between the Omani and Czech Lawyers Association and the development that the Omani judiciary has reached due to the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
The Assistant Secretaries and members of the Omani Lawyers Association attended the meeting.
