State Council receives Majan University College students as part of its outreach program

HE.Dr.Khalid Bin Salem Al Saidi, Secretary General of the State Council, received the masters students of Majan University College on Sunday, during their visit to the Council to learn about its competencies, role in national decision-making and its active contribution to the overall development of the Sultanate.



 

The Secretary-General warmly welcomed the students group and underlined the importance of such visits and its role in raising awareness of institutional practice of shura in the society, especially amongst university, college and school students.

 

In this regard, he stressed on the council's keenness to extend the communication links with the community through the Council's social media accounts, and direct visits to be acquainted with its facilities, observe its mechanism of work and learn about its powers. 

 

Dr.Khalid said that the Council of Oman building is one of the newest and largest parliamentary building and its architectural edifice combines Omani originality with modernity and reflects the architectural character derived from the Omani environment   according to the wishes of His Majesty.

 

He touched on the institutional practice of shura in Oman and its development and its achievements through discussion of draft laws and and submitting proposals and studies in various economic fields. In this context, he mentioned the role of the parliament in improving the performance of the shura institution.
 

The meeting was attended by Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Buraiki, Assistant Secretary General for Media and Public Relations, and several council staff. 

 

Dr.Ahmed Bin Hamid Al-Shibli, Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Information and Research at the Council delivered a lecture and addressed the provisions of the State Council as per the Basic Statute of the State, which stipulates its structure, the process and duration taken to pass draft laws as well as its activities.

 

The visit concluded after the students toured the Council and noted its modern electronic technologies and facilities.
