Today, the Technical and Innovation Committee of the State Council hosted several specialists of the Oman Technology Fund, as part of the committee’s study  of “draft law of Technology investment  and innovation

The  sixth meeting of the first annual session of the sixth term, chaired by Hon.Dr Maryam bint Abdullah bin Rajab Al Awadiyah, Committee Head was  held in the presence of honorable committee members and several General Secretariat employees. 

The Committee discussed the Fund's current status of investment in technical areas at the Sultanate’s level and the challenges that  it faces. 

The fund is in the investment fields and available to the technical sectors, including the field of research, development and innovation, and legislative and practical proposals that specialists see in the fund to create a stimulating investment environment for innovation in technical fields in general and the current and future role that the fund plays in creating an environment motivating  and supporting the development of investment opportunities in the fields of technology and innovation and R&D financing.

The delegation of the Omani Fund for Technology included Eng. Yusef bin Ali Al-Harthy, CEO of the Oman Technology Fund and several specialists of the Fund. 

In addition, the committee reviewed its plan for the year 2020 regarding conferences, workshops and training courses. 

It is mentioned that the study aims to review the legislation in force in the Sultanate that relates to investment in the field of technology and innovation, and to identify the challenges facing investment in technical fields that hinder innovation in these areas, and to suggest an integrated system that provides a stimulating environment for innovation in technical fields, thus contributing to the diversification of income sources the Nation .
