Vice Chairman of the State Council receives delegation from Occidental Petroleum Corporation

The Vice Chairman of the State Council, Hon.Sheikh Al Khattab bin Ghalib Al-Hinai, received today  the  delegation of the Board of Directors of  "Occidental Petroleum Corporation" headed by the Chairman of the Board of directors, Eugene L. Batchelder.
 
The meeting began with Hon Sheikh Hinai welcoming the delegation and giving a brief overview of the council and its role in national action. He praised the company’s contribution to the Omani economy through its branch in the sultanate, called, Oxy Oman.
He underscored the vigorous efforts exerted by the Sultanate and its adoption of ambitious steps to strengthen the national economy, the mainstay of which is oil. Also, he noted that current and future efforts  that focus on economic diversification by targeting a number of promising sectors such as tourism, mining, and manufacturing industries, fisheries and logistics services.
Al-Hinai, said that the vision of "Oman 2040" foresees promising prospects to support the Omani economy, and has plenty of options to develop its resources and employ them in the best way to  enhance  its prosperity, including the interest in advanced technology and knowledge economy.
He looked forward to strengthening the contribution of Occidental Petroleum Corporation through "Oxy Oman" from the perspective of social responsibility and community service in many areas, especially education, through scholarships for Omani students and training opportunities for the national workforce.
For their part, the delegation expressed their pleasure to visit the Sultanate, praising the developments in all fields, noting that the company and through its specialization in the exploration and production of oil and gas, works through its branch in Oman to achieve the operational objectives and provide jobs for the citizens.
The delegation viewed a documentary based on the Council and  toured it premises to know its various facilities.
Hon. Dr. Saleh Salim Mohammed Al Busaidi, Hon. Dr. Ishaq Ahmed Mohammed Al –Ruqaishi and Hon. Dr. Badria Ibrahim Khalfan Al Shihi, members of the State Council, attended the meeting.
