State Council Bureau commends government programs to develop proficiency

The State Council Bureau praised the government programs to develop performance and proficiency, discussed the draft law on mineral wealth and the report on the development of the social security system at its ninth meeting today.
 
The meeting, chaired by H.E. Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al-Manthri was held in the presence of the honored members of the Bureau and the Secretary General of the Council.
The Bureau discussed the ‘Draft of Mineral Wealth Law’ referred by the Council of Ministers along with the report of the Majlis A’Shura.   
It also discussed the proposal submitted by the Special Committee on the "National Program for Government Proficiency and Creativity." Regarding this, the Bureau hosted Hon.Naashiah Al Kharousi and Hon.Dr. Issa bin Said Al-Kiyoumi.
Hon.Naashiah Al Kharousi explained that the program comes in support of the government's efforts in the areas of performance development and upgrading the areas of public services provided by various official bodies, and to achieve further economic growth.
Further, she pointed out that the program aims to evaluate the performance of ministries and government agencies and institutions services in various fields, according to methodology and global standards.

The Bureau commended the Government efforts and the programs implemented in this regard.  Following discussion of the proposal, the Bureau decided to discuss it at the forth coming Regular Session for additional discussions.
The Bureau also reviewed the report submitted by the subcommittee of Social Committee on "The development of the social security system".
The study aims at identifying the reality of the social security system's performance, policies and legislations from organized laws and regulations, studying the role of the concerned authorities and institutions, to develop them and improve the quality of services provided.  The Bureau decided to refer it to 8th Regular Session Session of the Council for discussion.

Subsequently, the Bureau discussed a proposal on the organization of the parliamentary friendship committees of the Council.
During the meeting, the Bureau discussed the proposal submitted by Hon. Sheikh Khalfan Khamis Al-Hashmi, member of Culture, Media and Tourism Committee on the ‘Law for the Protection of Water Resources’ and reviewed the report submitted by Hon.Khamis bin Said al Sulaimi, Member of the State Council regarding the meeting with the Speaker of the Arab Parliament on the publication of the Arab Environmental Document.
It also noted the report on the follow-up to the activities of the committees between the period between the previous Bureau meeting and this meeting.
The meeting concluded following briefing on the agenda items for the 8th Regular Session to be held 3 May.
