Oman-China talks on cooperation gains depth

Oman-China discuss strengthening of economic, industrial and cultural cooperation
The delegation of the Omani side of the Oman-China Friendship Association headed by HE Dr.Khalid bin Salim bin Said Al  Saidi, Secretary-General of the State Council, reviewed the  consolidation of  parliamentary relations between the two countries and discussed strengthening of  economic, industrial and cultural cooperation with the Chinese side.
The Omani delegation is presently in China, in response to an official invitation.

HE Dr.Khalid bin Salim bin Said Al Saidi, Secretary-General of the State Council and HE.Mr.Wang Zhengwei, Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC, National Committee held talks and reviewed relations between the two countries and discussed the means of cooperation in economic, industrial, academic and cultural arenas as well as the ways to strengthen parliamentary relations between them.
Additionally, Dr.Khalid met Mr.Wang Guoqing, Vice Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of CPPCC, and National Committee.
The talks detailed the Silk Road Project and the role of the Sultanate in the revival of this ancient road, and opening up of new areas of cooperation and partnership in this project.
He noted in this regard the scientific symposium organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture on the anniversary of the passage of 35 years since the arrival of the vessel Sohar to the port of Canton-China. Further on, he highlighted the evolution of the historical relations between the Sultanate and China in cultural and economic fields, as well as underlined the contributions of Omani sailors and merchants in the consolidation of relations between Oman and China in the middle ages.
During the meeting, they reviewed various aspects of the proposed cooperation in a number of areas, and emphasized the role of reciprocal visits in strengthening the relations between the two countries, to open new horizons for cooperation.

The meeting also touched on ways of consolidating parliamentary relations between the two countries and lay the foundation for further parliamentary cooperation in the future. Both parties stressed on the importance of activating cooperation between the two sides to reach the parliamentary relations between the Sultanate and China to enable wider horizons to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.
The Omani side of the delegation received a briefing on the mechanisms of action followed in the General Secretariat of the Council of People's Congress and the National Committee's Political Consultative Conference.
