Sub-committee of Social Committee discusses the reality of caring for the elderly

The subcommittee of the Social Committee at the State  Council held its second meeting of the first annual session of the seventh term, headed by the Head of the Committee, Hon. Sheikh Mansoor bin Harith al-Ameri, in the presence of the honourable committee members and secretariat staff on Monday.

The committee discussions focused on the preparation of the reading on the study.

The study aims to identify the reality of international and local policies and legislations in the field of care and
protection of the elderly, and to identify the efforts of the concerned authorities in the same field, as well as the
most important programs and services provided to care for them.

It also aims to study the appropriateness of national legislations and policies and the current social, health and
economic services and their adequacy to meet the needs of the elderly due to the rapid urban and population
development, and develop appropriate proposals and mechanisms to fill the legislative and legal gaps in the field
of caring for the elderly.
