State Council Chairman receives the Atlantic Council Delegation

H.E.Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri, Chairman of the State Council, received on Sunday, the Atlantic Council delegation headed by Stephen John Hadley, former U.S. National Security Advisor and executive vice President of the Atlantic Council. The State Council Chairman welcomed the delegation and hoped that the visit would achieve its desired objectives. He highlighted the keenness of the Sultanate to establish cordial relations globally and noted in this regard the strong relations with the United States of America and Europe. The Sultanate spares no effort in supporting international peace and security, and is actively engaged in efforts to achieve and consolidate stability in the region, he added. It seeks to spread the values of tolerance and harmony so as to promote understanding, coexistence and communication between States and people.
H.E.Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri highlighted the development process of the Sultanate, which is moving forward with a confident pace, elaborated on the Oman Vision 2040, for accelerating development and achievements in accordance with an ambitious work system that looks forward and accompanies the economic developments and social welfare at all levels, local, regional and international. Further on, he briefed the delegation about the Council of Oman and its role in national action within the framework of the Basic Law and institutions established by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The meeting resulted in exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest. Stephen Hadley, expressed his happiness regarding the visit and said that the Sultanate is witnessing significant development in all fields and noted the pivotal role of Oman in promoting regional security and stability. He also praised the shura experience of the Sultanate, which he said is unique. Stephen Hadley pointed out that the Atlantic Council has privileged relations with Oman, and that the current visit is aimed at consolidating and strengthening these relations and pushing them to wider horizons, and expressed willingness to organize joint events with the Sultanate. The Atlantic Council seeks to contribute to the strengthening of international relations through its research and programmes in the areas of international security and global economic prosperity through its regional centres. The meeting was attended by the Vice-President of the Council and a number of honourable members of the Council and the Secretary General of the State Council.
