During the meeting, the State Council Chairman welcomed Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla and his accompanying delegation stressing that the visit reflects the strong relations of brotherhood and cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He added that the visit confirms the keenness of the two countries to strengthen the legislative cooperation and extend it to the development of joint relations in all fields and reiterated the Sultanate's keenness to develop ties of cooperation with Bahrain to meet the aspirations of both countries and peoples and bind the two countries.
H.E.Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri stressed the depth and size of the distinguished bilateral relations between the Sultanate, and pointed out that the relations between the two countries have reached a high level of growth due to the joint vision of the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, stressing the importance of enhancing parliamentary diplomacy to serve the region's issues and peoples.
During the meeting, the Council Chairman spoke about the role of the Council, its legislative and regulatory powers, the terms of reference and its tasks it performs, as well as the organizational structure of the council.
For his part, Ahmed Al-Mulla, President of the Bahraini house of representatives, thanked the Council Chairman for the warm welcome and hospitality, emphasizing that increased cooperation between the kingdom of Bahrain and the sultanate through parliamentary councils, has led to the intensification of visits and the exchange of experiences.
Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla conveyed the greetings and best wishes of King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to the people to Oman for continuous progress and prosperity, stressing that such visits will open up many areas of constructive cooperation , especially in the legislative areas and be fruitful to the benefit of the two countries and the brotherly people.
Also it will activate their role in supporting joint parliamentary cooperation between the two countries because parliamentary diplomacy is important in achieving convergence between viewpoints, uniting the aspirations of the nations and exchanging experiences in all parliamentary field.
He stressed the keenness of his country to consolidate existing relations with the Sultanate, saying: "We look forward to further development and prosperity of the relations of cooperation between the two friendly countries in all fields to contribute to the achievement of their common interests.”
He further added that the wise foreign policy pursued by the Sultanate based on the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, deserves praise and noted the efforts of the Sultanate and its prominent role in safeguarding regional stability and supporting world peace.
Adding further he said, “Sultanate is a role model in advocating the values of dialogue, tolerance and coexistence among peoples.”
The meeting was attended by Hon.Sheikh Al Khattab bin Ghalib Al-Hinai, Deputy Chairman of the State Council, Hon.Dr Suad bint Mohammed Al Lawati, Deputy Chairperson of the Council, several honorable Council members, H.E Dr.Khalid bin Salim Al Saidi, Council Secretary General and Mr Mohamed Saleh Al Shaikh Ali, Ambassador of Bahrain to Oman.
