Council of Oman pavilion at Muscat International Book Fair showcases the march of institutional development of Omani shura

Al-Saidi: The State Council and Majlis A’Shura  are keen to register an active presence in national events and work 

 

 Al-Nadabi: Continuous coordination between the State Council  and Majlis A’ Shura is enabled  under the umbrella of the Council of Oman 


The State Council and Majlis A’ Shura  commenced their   participation in the Muscat International Book Fair- the 25th edition which was opened this evening under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center and continues until 2 March.

 

 

His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan, visited the pavilion  of the two councils in the exhibition, in the presence of HE.Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri , Chairman of the State Council and several honorable members of the State Council and members of Majlis A’Shura.

 

 

His Highness was briefed about the exhibits showcased by the pavilion,films and photo gallery, which document the march of the Shura development of the Sultanate and the role of both Councils in the national work, in addition its role in contributing to the promotion of shura awareness.

 

HE.Dr.Khaled bin Salem Al-Saidi, Secretary-General of the State Council, said: “The participation of the State Council and Majlis A’ Shura in the Muscat International Book Fair comes as confirmation of the two councils keenness to affirm an active presence in national occasions and events to achieve direct communication with the community in order to introduce the two councils, their work mechanism and their role in the national work, the state of institutions and law.” 

 

He said that, the participation also validates its contribution to increasing shura  awareness, evidenced by the various stages of development of the institutional practice of shura in the Sultanate. 

 

His Excellency added: The importance of the participation of both Councils in the 25th Edition of the Muscat International Exhibition stems from the exceptional importance placed by the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour.

 

The exhibition will place focus on  cultural activities through seminars on the thought of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour and highlight the most important aspects of development  during the half-century of the Blessed Renaissance. 

 

His Excellency indicated that Shura has received great attention from His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour.

 

 

Pointing out that the exhibits of the two councils embody part of the development witnessed by shura  in the Sultanate as a result of this noble and generous patronage, and its promising future prospects for continued development during the reign of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. 

 

 

The Secretary-General of the State Council noted the prestigious status of the Muscat International Book Fair in the past 25 years and it stands as an important cultural event, receiving prominent regional and international presence. 

 

 

It has proven to be a global platform where writers from more than thirty countries with hundreds of thousands of titles of books and publications in various fields of thought and knowledge come together. 

 

 

He called on everyone to visit the pavilion of the State Council and Majlis A’ Shura at the exhibition, to view the various exhibits, including publications, photos, documentaries and educational material.

 

 

For his part, HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary General of Majlis A’Shura said: “The participation of Majlis A’ Shura in the current edition of the Muscat International Book Fair comes within the framework of cooperation and integration between the State Council and Majlis A’ Shura and the continuous coordination between the two councils under the umbrella of the Oman Council.”

 

The participation aims to introduce the visitors through the  exhibition to legislative work as well to Majlis A’ Shura ‘s  role in supervisory work and answer their inquiries about the powers and functions of the Council.

 

 

Al-Nadabi added that the council used to participate in local exhibitions annually, and Majlis A’ Shura  introduces the Shura march in the Sultanate, which is rooted in Omani history and is an integral part of the achievements of the modern Omani Renaissance established and led by the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Bin Taimur, which is an extension of the historical legacy of  the Sultanate within the concept of socialization and reinforced by the high tours of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said- since the beginnings of the modern renaissance. 

 

 

The shura development  commenced with the establishment of the Agriculture and Fish Council, followed by the Consultative Council of the State in the early eighties and then the Majlis A’ Shura and led to the Oman Council having dual Councils - the State Council  and the Majlis A’Shura. Its legislative powers and control enables it to exercise and perform its duties in full.

 

His Excellency pointed out that the participation of the Council of Oman in the book fair is merely an entrenchment of the principle of partnership between the two councils in all events and activities that focus on cooperation and joint work. 

 

Further on he added that the pavilion of the Council of Oman will also review the electronic platforms of the two councils and their content, Information, data and services that they provide to followers. It will also offer information about the shura  process and work mechanisms. 

 

The two councils, exhibit their publications, which present valuable information, data and indicators accomplished by the Council of Oman during the past terms, which will help researchers, academics and those interested in understanding the march of shura  in the Sultanate and document it’s development. 

 

It is noteworthy that the exhibition pavilions in the exhibition will receive visitors from ten in the morning until ten in the evening throughout the exhibition days.
