Special Committee hosts specialists to discuss “Language Policy" at the State Council

The Special Committee formed by the State Council to study "the language policy in the Sultanate and its challenges and mechanisms to develop and activate" on Tuesday, at its  sixth meeting , headed by  Hon.Rayya Salim Said Al Manthari, in the presence of the honourable members of the Committee.
 
The Committee hosted  specialists and discussed with them many aspects of the study, including: Diagnosis of the reality of the Arabic language in the Sultanate, Omani efforts in serving Arabic language in terms of legislation, and contributions of Omani scientists, Institutional efforts, and national programs and initiatives. In addition, reviewed with them the role of the Arabic language in the economy and knowledge industry, and Arab and international experiences in the service of the mother tongue.
 
Dr. Bader bin Hilal Al Yahmadi, Director of Education and Training Department at Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science, Dr. Abdullah bin Musallam Al Hashimi, Dean of the Faculty of Shari'ah Sciences, Dr. Huda Bint Salem Al Shailea, Head of Information Technology at the Higher Technical College, Nasser Al Busaidi, Head of the Investigation and Preservation Department of the Manuscripts Department at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and Saeed bin Mubarak Al-Tarashi, Cultural Researcher, Department of Literary Activities, Ministry of Heritage and Culture.
 
The study aims to establish a law or an official document to protect the Arabic language and enable it in the official practices in the Sultanate and to develop the appropriate proposals through which to highlight the status of the Arabic language and promote its use in various governmental and private institutions.
