Culture, Media and Tourism Committee discusses the role of "education” in the development of drama

The committee hosted H.E. Dr. Hamoud bin Khalfan al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Curriculum and a number of ministry officials, as part of the Committee's study on "The role of Omani drama in society.”
The Committee of Culture, Information and Tourism of the State Council at its fourth meeting for the fourth annual session of the sixth period, headed by Hon.Dr. Ahmed Ali Mohammed Al Mashikhi, Head of the Committee, in the presence of the honourable members of the Committee, and Secretariat staff on Sunday.
The study aims to learn about the reality of the Omani theater in all its aspects, the difficulties it faces, proposing appropriate solutions to overcome it, and identifying the role of governmental and private institutions and bodies, especially educational, in supporting and supplying the Omani theatre with technical cadres specialized in the field Drama and dramatic production, suggesting ways to revitalize the theatrical movement and maximize its return.
The Committee discussed with officials of the Ministry of Education several topics related to the study, including: The role of the ministry in activating the School theatre as an educational, recreational and cultural means, theatrical activities in the vicinity of the school and the development of cadres and attention to the creators on the theatrical side and rehabilitation and the role of theatrical competitions in stimulating the theatrical movement and the creation of cadres in this field.
In the same context, the Committee was informed about two reports, on its hosting of officials of the Omani Theatre Society, the Book of theatrical text and the Civil Theatre troupes, hosted by officials of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Sports Affairs and the Sultan Qaboos University.
During the meeting, the Committee formed a subcommittee to study the "Organization of Advertisement” approved by the Council at its third meeting of the fourth annual session of the sixth period.
