State Council Vice Chairperson highlights role of Omani Woman in development, at French Senate

Hon.Dr. Suad Mohamed Ali Suleiman Al Lawati, Vice Chairperson and Professor of Psychological Counselling at Sultan Qaboos University, participated in a seminar on Omani Women, organized by the Sultanate's Embassy in France on Monday.
The seminar was held in cooperation with the French Senate, in the presence of Dr Ghazi bin Said al Rowas, Sultanate's Ambassador to Paris.
Held in conjunction with the Sultanate's celebration of Women's Day, celebrated each year on October 17
th, the seminar aimed at defining the status of women in Omani society, their role and responsibilities in the overall development process in the Sultanate.
The seminar was held at the Luxembourg Palace in the French Senate, and was attended by Hon.Dr. Suad Mohamed Ali Sulaiman Al Lawati, Dr. Safiya Al Sharji, Lecturer at the Faculty of Higher college of Technology and from the French side Senator John
Bukiel, Chairman of the Committee on Friendship between France and the Gulf States as well as the Head of the French Expatriate Committee and former Minister of the Interior and Defense.
A number of French senators, women and representatives of the diplomatic corps in Paris as well as French media professionals interested in the Middle East participated in the seminar.
Hon.Dr. Suad Mohamed Ali Sulaiman Al Lawati presented a paper, wherein she discussed the role of the Omani women in the development process of the Sultanate, her community participation in development, and effective contribution to the promotion of Renaissance in Oman.
Further on, Hon.Suad discussed the role of the State Council in drafting laws and policies related to enhancing the empowerment of women in all fields.
