Culture, Information and Tourism Committee discusses the organization of Advertising with officials of the Ministry of Information, Municipalities and SQU

The Culture, Information and Tourism Committee of the State Council today discussed with the officials of government bodies its study on "organizing the advertisement".
The Committee hosted the fourth annual session of the sixth session under the chairmanship of the Hon. Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Meshaqi, the Head of the Committee.
The committee hosted officials from the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, and the municipalities of Muscat and Dhofar and Sohar.
The Committee reviewed with the Ministry of Information the role and competences of the Ministry in organizing the advertisements published in newspapers, magazines and printed periodicals, the means of developing and developing them according to studied principles, the reality of the printed advertising market and its economic and social effects, the size of publications in market of various categories, by requiring companies and companies producing goods, services and products to publish their offers and developments in printed newspapers and magazines as paid advertising material, and the need for a law regulating the advertisement.
The committee also discussed with the officials of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources and the municipalities of Muscat, Dhofar and Sohar governorates the controls with the advertiser and the monitoring mechanisms prior to publication and the advertiser's commitment to the laws and weaknesses in the current law from their point of view and their suggestions to develop the mechanism without further restrictions. It also discussed how to consolidate the general conditions of the advertisements in order to ensure the preservation of the aesthetic appearance of the cities of Oman, and the extent to which these ads contribute to the promotion of modern urban form of cities while preserving the authentic Omani values and traditions.
During the meeting, officials of the Sultan Qaboos University were briefed on the scientific awareness of the organization of the advertisement in the Sultanate, the extent of the Sultanate's need for it and their proposals in this regard, and how the advertising market can provide job opportunities for graduates of the department. It also discussed the need to keep pace with the academic curricula of the changes and developments of the advertising market and its ability to provide the graduate with the means that help him to excel in this market.
The study of ‘Organizing the Declaration’ aims at framing legislation and regulations that regulate and monitor the advertisement, framing the different categories of advertisements, ways and means of circulation, and defining the technical standards for the various advertisements in the streets and cities of Oman.
The committee reviewed during the meeting the latest developments in the study ‘The role of Omani drama in the community, theatre model’ and the proposal of ‘Arabic language complex’.
