State Council delegation visits PDO landmark projects in Nimr, Miraah

A State Council delegation on Wednesday , visited the Nimr Reed beds project and the Miraah Project in the Amal field of the Petroleum Development Company of Oman (PDO) which aims to provide energy.
The delegation included Hon.Dr.Suad Bint Mohammed bin Ali Suleiman Al-Lawatiya, Vice-Chairperson of the Council, HE Dr. Khalid bin Salim Al Saidi, Secretary General of the State Council, a number of honorable Council members, in addition to a group of employees of the General Secretariat of the Council.
The delegation was accompanied a number of Company officials.
The project underscores the company's determination to lead the shift from focusing on the oil and gas sector to TAQA, which focuses more on renewable energy sources. The Nimr Reed beds project is one of the most innovative environmentally friendly schemes in the world’s oil and gas sector.
The delegation also visited the artificial reed swamps project, one of the largest industrial projects on wetland in the world. The project, which is jointly operated by PDO and Bauer Nimr by avoiding the traditional ways to get rid of water associated with oil, which depends on pumping in underground tanks, a process that consumes a lot of energy, and has won the project several prestigious awards.
During the tour, the delegation discussed the mechanism of the central control room and the cooperative working environment and the advanced technology that contributes to enhancing productivity.
Hon.Dr.Suad Bint Mohammed bin Ali Suleiman Al-Lawatiya , expressed happiness on behalf of all regarding the opportunity to visit these two giant projects, which are part of the comprehensive development of the nation in various fields under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
She pointed out that the project Miraah Project is an innovative project that takes advantage of solar energy in the generation of steam used in the process of oil recovery and the economic benefits as it contributes to the creation of jobs and training in the field of engineering and construction, and generates local value added through Development of local supply chain.
“PDO contributes to supporting the progression of the national economy and wished the company continued success in its endeavors”, concluded the Vice-Chairperson of the Council.
