Bureau of State Council discusses enhancing role of Friendship Committees

The State Council Bureau hosted on Tuesday, the Heads of the Friendship Committees to discuss the proposal of “organization of the work of friendship committees".
The second meeting of the fourth annual session of the sixth period was held under the chairmanship of H.E. Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh al-Manthri, Chairman of the State Council in the presence of the honourable Bureau members and the Secretary General of the Council.
The Council Chairman highlighted the importance of the role of the Joint Friendship Committees of the State Council with a number of Councils in friendly countries, in promoting relations of cooperation, through exchange of visits, research Studies and exchanging experiences among the councils for mutual benefit. Further on, it discussed, the joint coordination on various issues and topics in regional and international conferences and forums.
The Bureau, together with the honourable members of the Friendship committees, reviewed ideas and visions on the proposal to "organize the work of Friendship Committees" that would contribute to strengthening the work of the Friendship committees.
The Bureau noted that the 2017 Audit Report from State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution(SFAAI) would be useful for the Standing Committees of the Council.
The meeting addressed the evaluation of the second and third Regular Sessions of the fourth annual session of the sixth period, held on 11 and 12 December.
The Bureau noted the communications received and the topics submitted by the honourable members and the Secretariat assisting the Information and Research Centre, as well as the report on the follow-up of the implementation of the decisions taken at its previous meeting and the Follow-up report on the activities of the Committees during the period between the previous meeting of the Bureau and the present meeting.
