Social Committee discusses with MoH officials, the care for the elderly in the Sultanate

The Social Committee of the State Council on Monday, held its sixth meeting of the first annual session of the seventh term, headed byHon.Ahmed bin Ali bin Abdullah Al Habshi al Amri, Committee Head, Committee Head, in the presence of the honourable committee members and several employees of the General Secretariat.
The committee hosted at the meeting, HE.Dr. Mohammed bin Saif al-Hosni, Ministry of
Health's Undersecretary for
Health Affairs, HE. Dr. Ali bin Talib Al-Hinai, Undersecretary of MoH for Planning Affairs, Dr.Saeed bin Hareb al-Lamki, and Director General of Health Care -MoH and Dr. Ahmed Bin Salem Al-Wahabi, Head of Department for the elderly.
The hosting comes within the framework of the committee's study of the proposal of the "The reality of elderly care in the Sultanate".
The Committee reviewed with the Ministry of Health officials, its efforts to serve the elderly, the programs and services provided in this regard, and their adequacy to meet their needs.
They also discussed with them national legislations and policies in the health field related to the care of the elderly, and compared them with Arab and international experiences.
It is worth mentioning that the study aims to identify the reality of policies and legislation for the care and protection of the elderly in the Sultanate and to learn about the efforts of the concerned authorities within this framework. It also aims to seek development of appropriate proposals and mechanisms to fill the legislative and legal gaps in the care of the elderly.
