-Appreciates the lofty follow-up of the efforts made to limit the spread of "Corona Virus"-
The State Council Bureau today praised Sultanate’s efforts to limit the spread of the Covid 19 virus in accordance with the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said - may God protect and preserve him. It expressed gratitude for the generous follow-up of His Majesty that affirms the supreme keenness to protect the citizens and residents living in Oman, in the face of the pandemic and limit its impact on all sectors.
The Council’s Bureau expressed its gratitude to His Majesty for the establishment of the Central Public Health Laboratories to keep pace with the technical development and modern systems with their competence and expertise to enhance national health care.
The intensive measures adopted by the Supreme Committee in charge of nationwide decisions to manage the developments resulting from the spread of the Corona virus (Covid 19) and its continuous endeavors to address the pandemic, protect the citizens and residents and work to provide necessary and appropriate care of infected cases, was praised by the Bureau.
The meeting stressed the necessity to continue to inform all segments of society with precautionary measures aimed at reducing the spread of the pandemic and asked for God’s ability to free the nation, other Muslim countries and mankind from the pandemic.
This came during the sixth Bureau meeting of the State Council for the first annual session of the seventh term which was chaired by HE.Dr.Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri, Chairman of the State Council in the presence of the honorable Bureau members and the Secretary-General of the Council.
The Bureau discussed the proposal to amend the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Law promulgated by Royal Decree No.114/2001. The meeting hosted Hon.Walli bin Nasser bin A’mer Al Shukaili, Deputy Head of Committee and Hon.Salim bin Khuwaiter bin Nassir al Maqbali, to conduct discussions. Following the discussion, the Bureau agreed to the proposal to study the subject.
At its meeting, the Bureau added to the discussions, the desire submitted by the Economic Committee to "study the stability of the Omani economy as a result of decline in oil prices and the effects of the pandemic Covid 19 and decided to refer it to the next ordinary sitting."
The Bureau also reviewed the reports submitted by the honorable Council members, the report on the follow-up of the decisions taken at its previous meeting, and the report on the follow-up of the activities of the committees during the period between the previous Bureau meeting and the present meeting.
Prior to the conclusion of the meeting, the Bureau determined the topics to be included in the agenda of the seventh Ordinary sitting of the first annual session of the seventh term of the Council, which is scheduled to be held on 29 and 30 June 2020.
Based on the supreme directives of His Majesty Sultan Bin Tariq- may God protect and preserve him – the first annual session (2019-2020) of the council’s seventh term, stands adjourned from July 16, 2020.
This comes in accordance with the provisions of Article (58)(bis 26) which stipulates that “The Council of Oman shall have an ordinary session of not less than eight months per year, to be convened upon a summoning from His Majesty the Sultan during the month of November every year.”
Article (58) (bis 29) stipulates that the summoning to the Council of Oman to convene in ordinary or extraordinary sessions and its adjournment shall be in accordance with an appropriate legal instrument.
